The opening ceremony

We begin with a declaration.

Young people matter. Mental health matters. Schools and youth carry this message together through art, music, banners, wearable work and movement.

A public voice with purpose

Let the first act
be a shared one.

The procession opens Day 1: Voice. Students make their commitment visible through approved messages about mental health, belonging, prevention and support. It invites the wider community to listen.

Schools can develop banners, symbols, rhythm and movement through the same brief-led creative process used across the festival.

What makes it workable

A controlled route, permits, stewards, supervision, headcounts, traffic and weather plans, accessible participation and specific media permissions shape the opening.

Route and timings are not yet confirmed. An indoor or static alternative is part of planning. Public participation follows school or Open Pod onboarding and programme agreement.
